About Zeltman Heating & Air
A Birmingham heating and air conditioning company working out of east Birmingham, on 15th Avenue North. We fix, replace and look after the systems that keep homes here livable in July and January.

Zeltman Heating & Air LLC repairs, replaces and maintains air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, ductless systems and ductwork for homes and light commercial buildings in Birmingham and nearby cities. We are based at 5118 15th Ave N and a person answers our phone 24/7.
The way we handle every call
We keep things simple. You call, and a person answers. We ask what the system is doing, when it started and whether anyone in the house is at risk from the heat or the cold. Then we set a time and tell you what to switch off if it is urgent.
On site, the technician tests in a fixed order: power and controls, then airflow, then refrigerant or combustion. That order matters. It keeps us from replacing the first part that looks tired when the real problem is somewhere else.
Before any work starts, you see the cause and the price. If a repair is reasonable, we recommend the repair. If replacement makes more sense, we show you why with both prices side by side. Nothing gets done until you say yes.
Both seasons, most brands, most home types
Central air conditioners, heat pumps, gas and electric furnaces, dual fuel systems, ductless mini-splits, package units, air handlers, ductwork, zoning, dehumidifiers and air filtration. We work on Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and most other makes.
Birmingham's housing is a big part of the job. A 1920s bungalow in Avondale, a 1960s brick ranch in Huffman and a two-story home in Hoover each hide their ducts, drains and equipment in different places, and each fails in its own way. Knowing that saves time on every call.

Who writes our tips and guides
Our tips and guides are written and kept current by Virgil Odom, our HVAC Tips & Guides Editor. Each guide answers a question we hear on the phone or on a service call, with Birmingham's humidity, pollen and cold snaps in mind, and each one is checked against what our technicians see in local homes.
The guides stick to things a homeowner can safely do: changing a filter, checking a thermostat, flushing a drain line at the cleanout, keeping the outdoor unit clear. Anything involving refrigerant, gas or the inside of an electrical panel is work for a technician.
